Ultrasone PRO 900i - Credo of sound - Synthax Audio UKFor musicians, music lovers, pro audio and high-end hi-fi

Like their predecessors, the PRO 500i, PRO 750i, PRO 900i and its open-back variant the PRO 2900i, have been designed with both audio professionals and discerning music lovers in mind. Ultrasone’s original PRO 550 has long been a firm favourite of session musicians, proving a popular choice with guitarists, bass players and drummers in particular, and the revised version looks set to continue the tradition.

The balanced and precise sound of the original PRO 750 and 900 made them ideal for use by audio engineers, with the headphone used as a benchmark for mixing and mastering. But the sonic qualities of the PRO 750s and the 900s also caught the attention of high-end hi-fi enthusiasts, and the headphone can equally be found in the homes of music lovers, who value the detailed and transparent sound.

Exquisite components for a perfect frequency range

All four models contain materials chosen specifically for their beneficial acoustic properties, providing a smooth balance of frequencies across the audible spectrum. For the PRO 550i, Ultrasone’s development team have chosen 50mm Mylar transducers, which are driven by a neodymium magnet. The result is an almost completely linear frequency range from 10 to 22,000Hz at a maximum sound pressure level of 102 dB. The closed-back design enables precise reproduction of low frequencies, whilst also suppressing unwanted background noise.

The new Ultrasone PRO 550i – i-series headphones come with two types of cable, a carry case and a spare pair of speed-switch ear pads

The PRO 750i uses titanium-coating for its Mylar drivers, giving it excellent acoustic qualities and durability. The fast response and crystal clear sound quality are complemented by the material’s resilience, making for a long-lasting driver that will provide many years of listening pleasure. Ultrasone have made full use of these characteristics in the PRO 750i’s 40mm transducers, which combined with high-quality neodymium magnets, ensure an almost completely linear frequency range from 8 to 35,000 Hz at a maximum sound pressure level of 94 dB.

The PRO 900i and the open-back 2900i address both professional sound engineers and discerning music lovers equally: both require dynamic, linear, closed headphones of the highest precision. Both sets of headphones share the design of 40-millimetre Mylar sound transducers, hardened with titanium, to offer maximum impulse response. With a frequency range of 6 Hz to 42 kHz, the PRO 900i and 2900i cover a spectrum even broader than the range of human hearing, ensuring no sonic detail is omitted, and the design principle provides particularly precise bass reproduction.

S-Logic® Plus for additional panorama and depth gradation

The high-end sound of the Ultrasone PRO i series is due in equal measure to the careful choice of materials, refined workmanship and the company’s patented Ultrasone S-Logic® Plus technology. Thanks to the special decentralised arrangement of the transducers, Ultrasone headphones have a characteristically spatial and natural sound. S-Logic, also known as “natural surround sound”, has won the company many plaudits for providing a more natural listening experience without digitally altering the audio signal.

An additional benefit of this technology is the reduced sound pressure levels, by 3-4 dB, with no reduction in the perceived volume. This means 40% less pressure on the ears, helping to provide lasting protection for the listener’s hearing.

Newly designed headband provides even greater comfort

A key factor for long-term enjoyment of music is wearer comfort. As a company, Ultrasone have a reputation for providing comfort, plus sound and build quality, in equal measure. Always looking to improve on previous designs, Ultrasone have designed the PRO i series with a noticeably broader headband cushioning than their predecessors. The new versions are now even more pleasant to wear – even for hours on end. The durable synthetic leather of the headband is both soft and smooth, and the velvet ear pads rest gently on the ears whilst still providing the isolation of a closed-back headphone.

Everything an audio professional needs

The high standard of the Ultrasone PRO range is reflected in the comprehensive set of supplied accessories. Along with the detachable 3m coiled cable with 6.3mm jack, ideal for home and studio use, a 0.8m cable with a 3.5mm jack is also included, ensuring that all connection types are catered for. The latter is intended especially for customers looking for high-end mobile listening, for example with a notebook, tablet or smartphone. A sturdy PRO box is also included for the safe transport and storage of the headphones, in which you’ll find plenty of room for the foldable PRO i series, and a spare pair of the replaceable speed-switch ear pads ensures an even longer life.
