Alan Emptage with Lauten Horizon

Engineer and producer, Alan Emptage, was one of the first in the UK to put the Lauten Horizon through its paces.  Alan, who is based at The Premises  in London,  was at first dubious. He explained that there were now so many condenser mics on the market and  that many of them sounded very much alike. However, he was immediately struck by the build quality and so decided to try one on a session.

Ali Thomson Video on Sonodyne

Ali Thomson is a songwriter/producer who has had much success over the years with artistes such as Girls Aloud, Laura Pausini and Mark Owen as well as penning and performing a hit or two for himself in the early 80's when he was especially successful in the US and Canada.

Ali is now working on various projects including Millers Daughter from his Hampshire home and uses Digidesign Pro Tools in the heart of his studio.

Annette Guilfoyle on RME MADIface USB and Goldfrapp Monitor Cues

Annette Guilfoyle is just the latest monitor engineer to invest in an RME MADIface USB, to help with a number of live applications. Annette, a native Brisbanian, was the long time monitor engineer for Paul Weller and has worked with many artistes including Editors and Mick Harvey (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). 

Autograph At The Olympics

Autograph Sound Recording was founded by Andrew Bruce and Phil Clifford in 1972.  Since then it has grown to become a leading light in the live performance industry with a host of clients that include the biggest West End plays and musicals.  More recently, Autograph were a major part of the successful opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympics.

As long-time RME users we were curious to find out more about what they’ve been up to.  So we dropped in on Rob Tory, who kindly gave us the run down.

Cian Ciaran - Super Furry Animals

Cian Ciaran, keyboard player and guitarist for rock (and some would say psychedelic rock) band, The Super Furry Animals, is a long time user and advocate of RME products. The RME Multiface with Cardbus card which had been at the core of his PC system had been rock solid since the day he bought it. But, Cian recently upgraded his PC and found that he was unable to use his old PCMCIA card.

Depeche Mode on tour with RME

Depeche Mode recently embarked on their “Delta Machine” tour which will last nearly two years and is predominantly covering Europe and the US. Delta Machine is Depeche Mode's 13th album which is the latest in a band career that spans an amazing 32 years with over 100 million album sales.

Maroon 5 FOH engineer, Jim Ebdon, transformed his DiGiCo D5 console into a mobile recording unit by using RME’s HDSPe MADIface 128-Channel 192 kHz MADI PCI ExpressCard.

FOH Jimmy Sarikas on RME MADIFace

Jimmy Sarikas, a FOH engineer whose experience spans 25 years and has worked for acts such as Adele, Jessie J, Beverly Knight, Mel C, Kelly Osborne, Elton John, Paloma Faith and Scouting For Girls. 

In this film, Jimmy talks about the RME MADIFace that he is using with his Yamaha PM5D to record throughout the Culture Club world tour which is starting on new years eve in Sydney harbour.

Glyn Johns Drum Technique with Lauten Oceanus and Horizon

Watch this great video from Sound Pure showing you how to mic up a drum kit using the Glyn Johns method. Glyn who worked with acts including Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, and apparently started his career as an assistant engineer for The Beatles. He was also credited as creating the incredible drum sound of John Bonham using this technique.
