His music has featured on all of the major UK broadcasters including the BBC, ITV and Sky, along with large organisations like VW, ICI, Nationwide and BP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">As a songwriter, some of Andy\u2019s most famous work includes the two songs he wrote for Shirley Bassey\u2019s 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary hit album \u2018Thank you for the years\u2019 (including the Title Track); two tracks written with ex members of Genesis for the \u2018Harmony for Elephants\u2019 charity album; and a special song for the prestigious \u2018Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards\u2019 ceremony, presented by Sir David Attenborough.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">His additional work includes five children\u2019s albums and six production music albums, music from which has featured on TV and radio networks around the world, and last year he recorded top Classical Guitarist Christoph Denoth\u2019s latest album \u2018<a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Tanguero - Christoph Denoth - Challenge Records\" href=\"https:\/\/www.challengerecords.com\/products\/15280964678902\">Tanguero<\/a>\u2019, using only a selection of classic microphones, Steinberg Nuendo, and the original RME Fireface UFX.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">He\u2019s also a session keyboard player and vocalist, working alongside artists such as Alison Moyet (Yazoo), Godley and Cr\u00e8me (10cc), The Move, and Steve Hackett (Genesis).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">We spoke to Andy about his decision to upgrade his writing studio with RME\u2019s flagship audio interface, the 188-channel <a title=\"RME Fireface UFX+ at Synthax.co.uk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/rme\/madi-aes\/rme-fireface-ufx-plus\/\">RME Fireface UFX+<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Andy-Neve-Studio-RME-Fireface-UFX-Synthax-Audio-UK.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-16967\" src=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Andy-Neve-Studio-RME-Fireface-UFX-Synthax-Audio-UK.jpg\" alt=\"Andy Neve's Studio - RME Fireface UFX+ - Synthax Audio UK\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Andy-Neve-Studio-RME-Fireface-UFX-Synthax-Audio-UK.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Andy-Neve-Studio-RME-Fireface-UFX-Synthax-Audio-UK-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Andy-Neve-Studio-RME-Fireface-UFX-Synthax-Audio-UK-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Andy-Neve-Studio-RME-Fireface-UFX-Synthax-Audio-UK-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>In the studio with Andy Neve<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">&#8220;My main setup consists of Steinberg Nuendo 10 on a 12 core Mac Pro, along with outboard gear from various different manufacturers,\u201d Andy tells us. \u201cMy interface is the Fireface UFX+, with the <a title=\"RME ARC USB at Synthax.co.uk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/rme\/accessories\/rme-arc-usb-advanced-remote-control\/\">ARC USB remote<\/a> for controlling TotalMix FX. This was an upgrade from the original (Firewire) UFX, as I wanted a Thunderbolt interface when I changed from a PC based system to a Mac.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cAlthough I did temporarily use a Thunderbolt interface from another manufacturer for a couple of months, I really missed <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"RME Video Tutorials \u2013 TotalMix FX For Beginners\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/2018\/12\/06\/rme-video-tutorials-totalmix-fx-for-beginners\/\">RME\u2019s TotalMix FX software<\/a>. TotalMix allows me to route any signal I want, including sending signals out of the RME through hardware outboard gear such as Moog filters, unusual pedals etc, and back into the system again with almost zero latency, or looping back signals from various computer sources back into the inputs. The sky\u2019s the limit!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;[With TotalMix FX,] the sky\u2019s the limit!\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cI love all the control room functions of TotalMix, and the ability to add DSP-based reverb as \u2018comfort reverb\u2019 to any monitoring output. Even though I use various different microphone preamps, I really like the RME mic pres, particularly if I want something that is totally transparent and doesn\u2019t colour the sound at all. I also have a large collection of classic retro and modern keyboards, and having numerous inputs on the UFX+ allows me to connect as many as I want.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/RME-TotalMix-Remote-Synthax-Audio-UK.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-11298\" src=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/RME-TotalMix-Remote-Synthax-Audio-UK.png\" alt=\"RME TotalMix Remote - Synthax Audio UK\" width=\"351\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/RME-TotalMix-Remote-Synthax-Audio-UK.png 460w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/RME-TotalMix-Remote-Synthax-Audio-UK-300x189.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 351px) 100vw, 351px\" \/><\/a>RME Fireface UFX+, ARC USB and TotalMix FX<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The RME Fireface UFX+ is the flagship in RME\u2019s range of professional audio interfaces. With 94 inputs \/ 94 outputs, the UFX+ is the first to feature Thunderbolt and USB 3, a necessity for this device due to the incredibly high channel count, and thus requiring a wider bandwidth than other models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">RME can consistently achieve up to <a target=\"_blank\" titler=\"Thunderbolt or USB Audio Interface?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/2015\/07\/29\/thunderbolt-or-usb-2-audio-interface\/\">70 channels (both ways)<\/a> at super low-latency over USB 2 &#8211; the reason that many RME devices (such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/rme\/firewire-usb\/rme-fireface-802\/\" title=\"RME Fireface 802 at Synthax.co.uk\">Fireface 802<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/rme\/firewire-usb\/rme-fireface-ufx-ii\/\" title=\"RME Fireface UFX II at Synthax.co.uk\">Fireface UFX II<\/a> audio interfaces) continue to use the format. In the case of the Fireface UFX+ however, the uniquely high channel count specifically requires a Thunderbolt \/ USB 3 connection, to deal with the sheer number of discrete audio channels running to and from a computer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Andy is also making use of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/rme\/accessories\/rme-arc-usb-advanced-remote-control\/\" title=\"RME ARC USB at Synthax.co.uk\">RME ARC USB<\/a>, a dedicated remote control for TotalMix FX, the mixing and routing software included free with RME interfaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">All RME interfaces feature a dedicated on-board DSP, essentially turning each device into digital mixing consoles in their own right, and providing full control over all inputs and outputs.<\/span><\/p> \n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Other features found in TotalMix include control over all input and output levels, metering, monitoring and talkback, options for muting and soloing channels (and channel groups), assignable shortcut commands, OSC remote control, EQ and compression on every channel, plus Reverb and Delay sends. You can find out more about RME&#8217;s TotalMix software with the <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"RME Video Tutorials \u2013 TotalMix FX For Beginners\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/2018\/12\/06\/rme-video-tutorials-totalmix-fx-for-beginners\/\">Beginner&#8217;s Guide To TotalMix FX<\/a> video series.<\/span><\/p> \n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;I really like the RME mic pres, particularly if I want something that is totally transparent <br>and doesn\u2019t colour the sound at all&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">TotalMix setups can also be saved and recalled via presets, and you can even control your interface wirelessly via an iPad with the TotalMix Remote app, a free download from the <a title=\"RME Downloads\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rme-audio.com\/downloads.html\">RME website<\/a> (found under the Software tab).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cMy large 48 input digital desk has now totally been replaced by TotalMix!&#8221; continues Andy. &#8220;I&#8217;ve used several RME \u2018Nuendo Branded\u2019 units via PCI cards in the past, like the Audiolink 96 Digiset, and the Multiset units. My digital desk had TDIF inputs, and as such I used 2 x RME \u2018Nuendo Branded\u2019 ADI-8 I\/O format converters to convert from ADAT to TDIF. I also really love the new ARC USB remote control, and the new iPad controller for TotalMix is great too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cRME has that reputation of being very reliable, and they sound great. But what really sold RME to me was the custom written low latency drivers.
