LS-308 Microphone | Sound On Sound Review\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/2020\/07\/07\/lauten-audio-ls-208-308-microphone-sound-on-sound-review\/\">Sound On Sound review<\/a>, recording magazine Tape Op have also taken the <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Lauten Audio Microphones at Synthax.co.uk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/lauten-audio\/\">Lauten Audio<\/a> Synergy Series for a test drive in their latest issue.<\/p>\n<p>Designed to be high-quality problem solvers for both studio and live recording, Lauten\u2019s LS-208 and LS-308 microphones feature incredible noise-rejection capabilities.<\/p> \n<p>This allows engineers to achieve isolation of individual instruments even in loud environments, or to easily separate the different elements of a busy drum kit for example.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lauten-Audio-LS-208-Microphone-on-snare-drum-Synthax-Audio-UK.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-14411\" src=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lauten-Audio-LS-208-Microphone-on-snare-drum-Synthax-Audio-UK.jpg\" alt=\"Lauten Audio - LS-208 Microphone on snare drum - Synthax Audio UK\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lauten-Audio-LS-208-Microphone-on-snare-drum-Synthax-Audio-UK.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lauten-Audio-LS-208-Microphone-on-snare-drum-Synthax-Audio-UK-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lauten-Audio-LS-208-Microphone-on-snare-drum-Synthax-Audio-UK-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.synthax.co.uk\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Lauten-Audio-LS-208-Microphone-on-snare-drum-Synthax-Audio-UK-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Lauten Audio LS-208<\/h4>\n<p>One word that&#8217;s regularly used to describe many of Lauten Audio&#8217;s mics is \u2018flexible\u2019, and this is certainly the case for the LS-208, a front-address, large-diaphragm condenser with built-in Low and High-Pass filters.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being a great all-round studio workhorse for drums and guitar amp recording, the LS-208 also does a great job with vocals and spoken word, making it a fantastic choice for applications like podcasting and YouTube videos.<\/p>\n<p>(In fact many of the recent <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Synthax Audio UK - YouTube Channel\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/synthaxtv\">Synthax UK videos<\/a> have been recorded using this very mic\u2026)<\/p>\n<p>Indentifying the LS-208 as a significant upgrade to your average podcaster\u2019s recording setup, Tape Op&#8217;s reviewer Matt Boudreau writes \u201cWith an MSRP $599, the <em>LS-208<\/em> may not appeal to the beginning podcaster&#8217;s budget, but [it] will make an incredible upgrade sonically once your podcast has grown beyond the beginner stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alongside vocals, Matt also wanted to hear how the 208 handles a snare drum &#8211; but they are truly special,\u201d Ben writes in his review.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough the <em>LS-308<\/em> does have a narrow spot in the rear that picks up sound, I immediately noticed how minimal the vocal bleed was with the <em>LS-308<\/em> \u2013 I&#8217;d say the balance was about 90% guitar, 10% vocal bleed. This came in handy during vocal overdubs, as I was able to punch vocals in and out and even re-record whole vocal takes with little audible &#8220;ghosting&#8221; of the live vocal take bleeding through the acoustic guitar mic. This was awesome!\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cI don&#8217;t want to call these mics &#8220;specialty,&#8221; but they are truly special\u201d<\/h4>\n<p>Ben also put the 308 to work on a kick drum, saying that he was \u201ccurious to see how focused it would sound, and how well it would handle the high SPLs of such an application.
