Calrec\u2019s Type R broadcast consoles have just received a boost with the release of their latest software update (v2.0).<\/p>\n
This update brings a variety of key additional features, expanding the extensive functionality already on offer from Calrec\u2019s modular mixing environment, designed specifically for use in professional TV, Radio and OB installations.<\/p>\n

Remote Broadcast Production for TV and Radio<\/h4>\n
Modular, scalable and with an IP-backbone, Type R is the most affordable and easily-customised console in the Calrec range.<\/p>\n
Multiple mixing environments can be operated from a single Core, providing a flexible and highly cost-effective mixer for broadcast companies operating with several control rooms, or across a range of disciplines.<\/p>\n
Each mixer now offers 11 mix minus buses (plus 1 off air conference bus); individual user GPIO control; and user login \/ permissions for Calrec Assist, Calrec’s remote control software that enables operators to dial into Type R remotely over IP.<\/p>\n
A range of DSP upgrade options are available for expanding the Type R’s base 20 channels of DSP, increasing the number to 40, 80 or 120 full-featured channels, and offers the ability to operate up to three mix environments from a single Core.<\/p>\n
With the largest Type R120 DSP upgrade installed, a single Type R Core can host one (120 channels); two (60 + 60 channels, or 80 + 40 channels); or three mix environments (40 + 40 + 40, or 60 + 30 + 30 channels), all on private networks with no sharing between facilities.<\/p>\n

$\"\"$ <\/a>Calrec Type R \u2013 Modular IP-based Broadcast Audio Console<\/h4>\n
The Calrec Type R is made up of four main components \u2013 6-channel motorized fader panels, large and small touch-screen control panels, and the Core I\/O, which provides analogue and digital connectivity along with connections to the surface elements, AoIP connectivity and GPIOs.<\/p>\n
Any number or combination of Fader Panels, Large Soft Panels and Small TFT panels (together with Calrec Assist) can be supplied together, to create a custom, expandable console surface that perfectly suits the user\u2019s requirements.<\/p>\n
The system can also be fully controlled over IP, making it possible for operators to mix and monitor from a different location to the main production. The Type R is also fully redundant, with an option for automatic and seamless switchover to an additional Core whenever a loss of signal is detected.<\/p>\n

The Calrec Type R can also be controlled via a web UI called Calrec Assist, a browser-based interface that creates a fully-featured virtual console environment to compliment the hardware, with automation and interactive real-time control.<\/p>\n
Different levels of access can be granted to individual users \u2013 an operator can be provided with a basic set of control functions, whilst an engineer can have further access for fine-tuning or making alterations to the UI.<\/p>\n
