\"EMG<\/a>EMG UK has once again turned to Calrec audio consoles for its outside broadcast work.<\/h3>\n

OB and technical services provider EMG UK\u2019s relationship with Calrec Audio goes back over 30 years, with the company once again turning to Calrec in the equipping of its latest Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Stratford, London.<\/p>\n

This latest installation sees EMG UK continuing to use Calrec to satisfy its complex audio needs across all of its UK-based outside broadcast applications.<\/p>\n

Born as a fully remote extension to the four current EMG UK ROCs located in High Wycombe, the Stratford ROC offers full UHD, HDR and Dolby Atmos remote production for BT Sports\u2019 Premier League football matches.<\/p>\n

The Stratford ROC is designed with 8K in mind, so EMG opted for 12G for the video infrastructure. For the audio, a 56-fader Calrec Artemis has been installed alongside an IP-native Type R, with the Type R offering a small format console for music playback operations.<\/p>\n

Calrec\u2019s Hydra 2 networking technology (and Calrec AoIP Gateway) ensures SMPTE 2110 is in place for the Type R sub mix console, whilst keeping an eye on future connectivity, with a Calrec RP1 providing a compact remote production option.<\/p>\n

The audio workflow allows the ROC remote control of all presentation audio signals via the RP1, allowing the sound team to control parameters like EQ and dynamics remotely, and to provide IFB mixes in real time. Other signals are derived from the OB match truck – and passed through the RP1 via MADI \u2013 with intercom signals connected on to the remote Dante network which the RP1 also is connected to. A total of over 200 audio signals are processed and embedded at the OB, with all signals arriving at the ROC through diverse connectivity.<\/p>\n

\"Calrec<\/a>Calrec Type R \u2013 Modular, IP-based broadcast console<\/h4>\n

The Calrec Type R is a state-of-the-art, modular broadcast mixing system designed for radio, TV and outside broadcast production.<\/p>\n

Each Type R Core can host up to three independent mixing environments – with no sharing of DSP resources – allowing the creation of various system types that are tailored to operator needs.<\/p>\n

Remote control is provided via Calrec Assist, a browser-based interface that allows users to set up shows, memories, fader layouts, patching, bus setup, labelling, input and output levels, input channel parameters (including mic gains), routing and more without needing to be in front of the console.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Control surfaces are offered via IP-based fader panels, small soft panels (SSPs) and large soft panels (LSPs), with a number of rack-mount I\/O boxes also available for additional analogue and AES, as well as the newly announced GPIO and Type R Talent Panel.<\/p>\n
