Dolby Atmos has been taking the audio world by storm, reimagining your favourite tracks and turning music-listening into an immersive experience. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “It’s like a perfect storm” explains Hugh Neal, mix engineer at The Friary Studios, “how much we utilise phones, streaming, we have 5G now. That has led to the possibility of Atmos being a more seamless thing.” <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Hugh has worked in the industry for over twenty years, but his path to becoming an engineer began on “the other side of the glass” as a singer and guitarist. Having spent a number of years working with Freemonk (production name of Chris Webb, owner of The Friary Studios), Hugh made the move towards working as an engineer in 2012. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In the years that followed, he’s worked with artists such as Paul & James McCartney and Wretch 32, as well as alongside producers like David Kahne and Youth. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Like many studios across the world, The Friary added a dedicated Dolby Atmos space to keep up with the demand from labels for immersive audio mixes.
