London, UK \u2013<\/strong> BBC Studioworks has further strengthened its audio capabilities with the installation of a Calrec Type R console<\/a> for its Grams desk at Elstree Studios, reinforcing a broader strategy to standardise flexible, high-performance audio infrastructure across its facilities.<\/p>\n

The latest installation, located in the George Lucas Stage 2 control room at Elstree, forms part of a wider rollout that has seen the Type R deployed across multiple Studioworks sites, including Television Centre in London and Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy role is to play in any prerecorded music, sound effects or voiceovers anytime they\u2019re needed during the show,\u201d explains Nancy Wright<\/strong>, Grams Operator and Technical Specialist<\/em> at BBC Studioworks. \u201cAny sound or music that\u2019s not associated with pictures comes from me and my sound desk.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got Type R\u2019s consistently across all our studios, which I think tells its own story. It\u2019s been a big step forward from the desk that we had previously: the Type R gives us an awful lot more power and flexibility, as well as much more I\/O available than we had before.\u201d<\/p>\n
