Description

SERIES
Multi-format. Highly Affordable. Most flexible.

Ultra-compact converters
+ Switchable format boards
The Appsys ProAudio Flexiverter is an ultra-compact box for converting between any of the most common digital audio formats (Standalone), or for adding additional I/O to the Appsys Multiverter (Extension).
Two Flexiverters can also be used together (Dual Mode), allowing users to create a custom device to perfectly suit their digital format conversion needs.
Each Flexiverter comes with a main format as standard, with a second slot for adding an additional interface via a range of switchable AUX boards, for converting between two different formats, or for expanding the I/O of the main format.
The Appsys Flexiverter range opens up a world of possibilities for conversion between the most common formats, as well as unique pairings and combinations (e. g. AES50 <> Dante, Dante <> Dante SRC, Dante <> AVB).
For other base unit options, see the full range of Appsys Flexiverters here.

Appsys Flexiverter (FLX-DANTE/SRC)
The FLX-DANTE/SRC is a base Flexiverter with 64 x 64 channels of Dante (with sample rate conversion) on 2 x Ethernet connections.
A second Aux Card can be added for standalone format conversion between DANTE and any of the formats listed below.
Alternatively, the FLX-DANTE/SRC can be used to add additional I/O to an Appsys Multiverter, or in combination with a second Flexiverter (for conversion between up to four different digital audio formats - see the "How It Works" section below).
Features
- Two DANTE ports on Ethercon connectors
- AUX port accepting any of the AUX Cards as conversion source/destination
- When combined with AUX-DANTE, it acts as Dante/Dante bridge with full network and clock domain separation.
- 64x64ch bi-directional Sample Rate Converter with top-notch specifications (>120dB THD+N, >134dB DNR), can be bypassed when desired
- Supports sample rates from 44.1 to 192kHz on either side, i.e. can do 96kHz MADI <> 48kHz Dante with 64 channels in each direction
- FlexLink port for lowest latency, bi-directional transfer of 192 channels audio, clock and power
- Remote control via USB: web remote (no software required), or UART command line
Additional features when connected to an Appsys Multiverter:
- True channel-wise routing of all available channels (built-in plus AUX card)
- Sample-rate conversion using the SRC-64
- Web- or telnet based Remote Control
- Triple-redundant power supply (2 x DC; 1 x via FlexLink)

Combinations
Combine the FLEX-DANTE/SRC with any of the following formats into one 9.5 inch Flexiverter box:
Dante (with or without SRC)
AVB
ADAT
MADI (Optical, Coaxial, Twisted Pair)
AES-3 (with or without SRC)
AES50
AES67
WordClock
TDM
SDI 12G
HDMI
Analogue Outputs

How it works
The Appsys Flexiverter can be used in one of 3 ways: Standalone, Dual Mode, or as a Multiverter Extension.
1
StandaloneA single Flexiverter with optional Aux card installed
Insert and switch any AUX board in every main FLX unit and create the converter of your choice.

2
Dual Mode: Two FlexivertersA 1-to-1 converter with extra channels
Convert up to 4 formats with one pairing (Signal splitting to AUX or FlexLink).

3
Multiverter ExtensionConnect one flexiverter via FlexLink to the multiverter MVR-64 to add an additional format conversion, SRC, or more channels.

THE BACK PANEL: MOST FLEXIBLE
The main format I/O section on every FLX unit is different, the rest of the back panel is identical.

The FlexLink connection
The FlexLink connection is designed to connect two Flexiverters, or one Flexiverter with the Multiverter. It provides:
- 192 x 192 channels bi-directional transmission of 24-bit uncompressed audio (fully transparent to AES3 compatible metadata bits)
- Super-low link latency of 4 samples (ca. 83μs)
- Dedicated, high-quality reference clock signal with automatic configuration
- Power supply for connected devices (to reduce cabling), alternatively serves as redundancy scheme when both devices are powered: in case of power failure, both devices keep working from the remaining power supply.
- Uses standard HDMI cables (with locking screws), to provide easy field replacement in case of defects.

Rackmounts
The following rackmount kits are available as optional extras:
