The Ultrasone Edition 12’s timeless design – which was singled out with the Red Dot Award in the “Honourable Mention” category – represents hi-fi musical enjoyment like no other headphones. The ear cups have a matte chrome finish and are decorated with specially produced aluminium inlays. Following in the footsteps of the most-popular Ultrasone Edition
In terms of sound, the Edition 12 is based on the Edition 8 – the most-popular set of headphones in the Ultrasone Edition series. This means that, despite the open design principle, Ultrasone’s latest development produces sounds in the low frequency range that are both punchy and present. Transparent mids accompanied by silky trebles allow a genuine reproduction of voices and instruments, this euphony is achieved courtesy of two hand-selected, gold-plated, 40 mm transducers. With a frequency range from 6 – 42 kHz, the headphones more than cover the entire spectrum of human hearing capacity.
Thanks to S-Logic Plus – Ultrasone’s patented technology for the decentrally positioned transducers – audiophile music lovers can enjoy a unique musical experience. By incorporating the outer ear in the headphone’s design, a broad stereo platform is created as the sound unfolds, providing an impressive stereo panorama, whilst a detailed depth gradation is achieved due to these inner ear reverberations.

Ultrasone have also considered the ever growing number of audiophiles who have embraced the balanced audio system with corresponding headphone amplifiers, by designing the Edition 12 as “balanced ready”. This means that they come set up as the classic unbalanced variant, but they have rather cleverly developed the Edition 12’s to also be suitable for balanced operation. The expertly-crafted headphones come with a 6.3 mm Neutrik stereo jack, which can easily be replaced by a balanced connection if desired.

Ultrasone have designed the Edition 12 with not only sound and design in mind but also with comfort, this has always been of the utmost importance. So, the headband is cushioned with extremely comfortable Ethiopian long-haired sheep which is especially hard wearing and holds its shape for many years. The ear cups are cushioned with special micro-velour. This material ensures optimum comfort and essentially provides the unique tonal balance of the Edition 12. Furthermore, weighing in at just 282 grams the headphones are a pleasure to wear.
Handcrafted with passion
Just like all Ultrasone headphones in the Edition and Signature series, the Edition 12 is handcrafted with meticulous precision in the factory in Bavaria. It is here, against an impressive backdrop of the Alps and Lake Starnberg with the necessary tranquillity and inspiration, that the latest Edition model is made. Every single component is checked by expert ears and hands before being used, this is, for example how both transducers are matched. In order to achieve the best possible sound, the frequency ranges are checked for exact adherence. Drivers that are a perfect match are then placed together in a set of Edition 12 headphones. An individual serial number on every Ultrasone Edition 12 ensures that each set of headphones is unique.
