Synthax Audio (UK) is pleased to announce the release of the Ferrofish A32 Dante AD / DA Converter. Designed to streamline system cabling in both live and installed sound applications, the A32 Dante supports a range of audio formats and incorporates leading edge technology, serving as a high-end AD / DA audio and format converter.

With Dante audio networking capabilities, the new Ferrofish A32 Dante is the perfect choice for studio, live and installed applications. By utilizing uncompressed, multi-channel digital media networking technology with near-zero latency and synchronization, the A32 Dante is designed to eliminate the unsightly and often trouble-prone mass of cables employed in large scale productions or AV installations. Dante does away with heavy, expensive analogue or multicore cabling, replacing it with low-cost, easily-available CAT5e, CAT6, or fiber optic cable for a clean, lightweight, and economical solution over a single, standard IP network.

Dante, MADI, ADAT & Analogue I/O

The Ferrofish A32 Dante supports 64 channels of MADI I/O, 32 channels of ADAT optical I/O, and 32 channels of analogue I/O. Additionally, one ADAT optical connector can be used alternatively as S/PDIF.

With a wealth of I/O choices, the Ferrofish A32 Dante can also operate as a very capable audio format converter, while simultaneously functioning as an AD / DA converter. Audio can be freely routed (in groups of 8) between all interfaces. As an example, it is possible to use the first 32 Dante channels for converting to analogue while using the remaining 32 Dante channels to connect the A32 Dante with ADAT equipment. To ensure the finest audio quality, the A32 Dante employs 24-bit 192 kHz high quality converters with analogue gain switches. The gains of each channel can be separately adjusted in 0.5 dB steps, and the standard levels (+4 dBu, +13 dBu und +20 dBu) are switched in the analogue domain, ensuring the full analogue performance of the converter is preserved.

Control everything from the front panel

Operation and control of the A32 Dante is intuitive and comprehensive. The four on-board TFT screens provide complete control of all levels and adjustments, including the device's extensive routing capabilities. Any input signal (in groups of 8) can be routed to any output signal. Equally notable, the A32 Dante features impressive remote control operation via Dante, MIDI, and USB. Remote operation via MIDI over MADI is also possible, providing remote control of the A32 Dante via the same MADI cable that carries the audio signal.

The finest audio quality is ensured in both the analogue and digital domains. The high-end analogue circuitry is complemented on the digital side by a 400 MHz Sharc DSP, that facilitates extremely precise audio calculations. On the digital side not a single bit is lost, and stunning audio performance is guaranteed throughout.
