We’re pleased to announce that the Icon Platform M+ DAW controller, Icon’s compact and mobile control surface, can now be used alongside QSC’s Touchmix 30 mixing desk and Sound Devices Scorpio location sound recorder.
In addition to its popularity as a studio controller, the Platform M+ brings tactile control to live audio, broadcast and location sound recording setups. With 100mm, 10-Bit motorized faders, plus transport controls, encoders and illuminated buttons, the Platform M+ offers many benefits for automation and easy recall of settings, alongside more precise control of parameters during live recording and playback.
QSC TouchMix 30 PRO v2.0
Perfect for production professionals, musicians and bands as well as live performance venues, the TouchMix-30 Pro’s 32 mixing channels (24 Mic/Line, 6 Line, Stereo USB) and 16 outputs offer tremendous signal management flexibility for a wide range of applications with touchscreen fader control. The Touchmix 30 Pro’s latest firmware update adds the capability to interface with third-party external control surfaces with motorized faders. And QSC’s controller of choice is the Icon Pro Audio Platform M+, as demonstrated in the below video.
QSC customers have been asking for a tactile option to the Touchmix 30’s touchscreen faders. After sampling all the controllers available on the market, the team at QSC found that the feature set of the Platform M+ was a perfect compliment to their compact digital mixer. And so, QSC’s engineers took their time to integrate control using the Platform M+ into their latest firmware update.
Sound Devices Scorpio Mixer-Recorder
Scorpio is a 32 channel, 36 track mixer-recorder and the most powerful product ever designed by Sound Devices. With 16 mic/line preamplifiers, 32 channels of Dante in and out, AES in and out, 12 analogue outputs and multiple headphone outputs, Scorpio is well-suited for any production scenario. A fully-customizable routing matrix enables audio professionals to send any input to any channel, bus, or output. Up to 12 buses may be individually mixed. Due to its compact form factor, the Scorpio is equally at home over-the-shoulder or in a mobile rig.
And the team from Sound Devices chose the Platform M+ as their go to motorized fader system. Now you can fit an entire 32 channel recording system (with an automated mixer with motorized faders) into your backpack!
Icon Platform M+ and D2 Display
The Icon Platform M+ control surface is a compact desktop mixing controller that’s great for mobile setups or where space is at a premium. Features include 9 x touch-sensitive, motorised faders; 8 x dual-function encoder knobs; Jog wheel for fast search and control; illuminated buttons for each channel (including Select, Mute, Solo and Record); 6 x illuminated transport buttons including Play, Stop, Record, Rewind, Fast Forward and Loop; USB 2.0 connectivity; Class-compliant with Windows and Mac OSX; and expandable up to 32-channels (with 1 x Platform M+ and 3 x units of Icon Platform X+ Fader Extenders).
When used with the optional D2 display (sold separately), information such as channel names, level and pan settings can also be viewed at a glance.
Icon Platform X+ Fader Expanders
Designed to work alongside the Platform M+, the Icon Platform X+ allows users to expand their setup with additional banks of 8 x motorized faders (up to 32 channels).
The Platform X+ can also be operated as a standalone USB-MIDI controller, although it will function much more effectively when used in conjunction with the Platform M+, as the X+ lacks transport controls and the ability to switch banks of faders from the unit itself.
