Kevin Porée has been recording, mixing and producing music professionally for over 30 years, and in that time he’s experimented with a wide variety of microphones. With this in mind, we recently set him up with a selection of mics from US manufacturer Lauten Audio, in order to get his opinion on three of their premium Signature Series.
Having spent some time with the Lauten Atlantis, Eden and Oceanus, Kevin wrote us an entertaining user review where he detailed how each one fared in the studio, testing all three mics as part of several real-world projects he’s currently working on. These included voiceover work for an upcoming TV show, and a jazz album he’s producing with artist Johanna Allitt, using the mics on a range of sources includings vocals and instruments.
Kevin clearly liked what he heard – after the review, he decided to add both an Atlantis and Eden to his microphone collection! He also kindly allowed Synthax Audio UK to visit him at his studio in London for a chat about his career, his approach to recording, and to find out what particularly impressed him about the Lautens.
