RME for RSC

14th October 2011 3:22 pm

RSC-Logo“We as the Royal Shakespeare Company are world famous for repertoire theatre, often running eight different shows a week,  full scenery, lighting and sound changeovers happen once if not twice a day.

As well as sound effect playback the RSC use live musicians for all shows and due to the complexity of multiple band set ups, we require reliability and consistency throughout all our audio inputs and output stages.

We were looking for a way to switch between two sound FX computers that both use fifty six channels of MADI I/O via RME’s MADI HDSP sound cards (a discontinued product which has since been replaced by the RME HDSPe MADI), furthermore we needed to then be able to switch the MADI I/O connections between two sound consoles.

A number of DIY solutions where made in-house involving relays, switches and plastic boxes but the RME MADI Bridge has proven to be a far more economical, stable, reliable and elegant solution.

RMEs MADI Bridge as a patch bay/distributor is the answer we have been looking for.”
