The NAMM show in Anaheim, California is the global music industry gathering where manufacturers and distributors exhibit the latest developments in pro audio technology. 2016’s show was the largest in its 115-year history, with a record number of 1,700 exhibiters representing more than 6,000 brands.
With suppliers often choosing NAMM to unveil their upcoming products, the event attracted over 100,000 visitors including buyers, exhibitors, members of the media, musicians, artists and celebrities.

RME at Winter NAMM 2016
Representatives from RME were onhand to demonstrate the company’s extensive range of industry-standard interfaces, converters and mic pres, with the star of the show undoubtedly being the new RME Babyface Pro. The company ran a competition each day, with the lucky winners taking home this powerful and highly portable audio interface, and the RME Basement provided a perfect opportunity for visitors to try out the device in a comfortable setting. There was also a variety of live music performances at the stand, including the duo who feature in RME’s latest advert for the Babyface Pro.
North American debut for the Ferrofish A32 at NAMM
The Ferrofish A32 was also given its official North American Launch at NAMM. The 32 analogue in, 32 analogue out AD/DA converter gained a lot of interest from audio and broadcast engineers thanks to its combination of high-end conversion and routing capabilities, plus ADAT and MADI functionality.

Icon Qcon Pro X
The bigger brother of the ever popular Icon Qcon Pro DAW controller, Icon’s Qcon Pro X retains all of the features of its sibling – motorised faders, assignable buttons, comprehensive playback controls and a jog-wheel – whilst bringing an increased level of detail to the faders and metering. It also attracted the attention of none other than the legendary Stevie Wonder!
The Icon Qcon Pro X is scheduled for a Spring/Summer 2016 release.
Icon Platform D and Icon Platform M
The Platform M (controller) and Platform D (backlit LCD screen) combine to create a compact control surface similar to the Qcon Pro X, offering much of the same functionality in a space-saving design.
Icon iKeyBoard 3S
Icon’s latest range of USB-MIDI keyboards, the iKeyBoard S series comes in 25, 37, 49 and 61 key options. Along with the usual keyboard controls like modulation and pitch control via its touch-sensitive fader, the range also has audio interface capabilities, with a mic input and analogue I/O.

Icon also had several of their other USB-MIDI controller keyboards on display, such as the 5 octave, 61-key model from the iKeyboard series.

Icon also have a newly developed plug-and-play USB microphone in the pipeline – more news to follow on this stylish (and super-convenient) mic.
MicW unveils new mobile 3D Recording mic at NAMM
Manufacturer of innovative microphones for smart phones, mobile devices, DSLR and GoPro cameras, the MicW stand showcased a large range of the company’s already-established products. The most exciting new product revealed had to be the MicW 3D Recorder Kit, a microphone that enables the user to create 3D recordings whilst on the move. Again, more details to follow soon.
