NAMM 2018 - MicW iShotgun MicrophoneNews from NAMM 2018: Chinese microphone manufacturer MicW adds to its range of compact microphones

MicW has just announced the release of the MicW iShotgun, a compact shotgun microphone designed for use with the latest generation of Apple iPhones and iPads. Once connected to an iOS device that features a lightning connector, the iShotgun transforms your phone or tablet into a high quality mobile recording device.

The iShotgun is also plug and play – simply connect to your phone or tablet, and you'll have a microphone that vastly improves the quality of anything you record with your device, whether you're making a film with your phone, recording your band's latest rehearsal, or capturing a local concert.

Like all MicW Microphones, the iShogun can also be purchased with a selection of useful accessories, such as a dedicated attachment for attaching to your device, a windjammer / "dead cat" for reducing wind noise, and a lightning cable.

Last year MicW released the i437L, a calibrated omnidirectional microphone also designed for use with all Apple lightning devices. Weighing only 8g, the i437L is ideal for taking measurements (when teamed with a suitable App) with iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and iTouch devices that have iOS and a lightning connector.

The i437L is a calibrated measurement microphone that complies with the IEC 61672 Class 2 sound level meter standard. With a variety of dedicated Apps available on the market for recording with an iPhone or iPad, the i437L can turn a phone or tablet into a quick and simple portable digital recorder, SPL meter or real-time audio analyser.
