DirectOut Montone.42

The DirectOut MONTONE.42 is DirectOut‘s powerful Audio-over-IP bridge, providing simple, seamless integration of networked audio and existing infrastructures for broadcasters as they progressively move to IP-based production.

Equipped with four MADI and two Gigabit network ports, MONTONE.42 incorporates RAVENNA audio networking technology, including AES67 and SMPTE ST2110-30 standards support as a versatile link for broadcast, live sound and studio applications.

Powerful networking, seamless interoperability

With recently updated software for greatly improved usability and increased flexibility, MONTONE.42 uses AES67 for straightforward network integration and RAVENNA for more demanding applications requiring high-performance transmission at minimum latency.

Providing real-time distribution of audio and other media content in IP-based network environments, RAVENNA gives outstanding timing accuracy and scalability.

Also fully AES67-compliant (the interoperability standard from AES), it is seamlessly compatible with other AoIP devices. Now based on HTML5 and java-script, the user interface provides quick access to all system and streaming information. The Advanced Settings area ensures that MONTONE.42 can be used in demanding and complex network infrastructures where the ability to adjust parameters – like QoS and PTP values – are key.

Clocking and Synchronization

In addition to its internal clock, MONTONE.42 can be synchronized to MADI input, word clock, video reference, and network (PTP). For PTP, Default and Media profile are supported as well as the SMPTE ST2059-2 profile. MONTONE.42 can also be used as a network grandmaster.

All-Round Functionality

MONTONE.42 provides three interface standards for MADI:–optical SC (single-mode or multi-mode)–coaxial (BNC)–SFP

The Small Form Factor Pluggable cage can be fitted with any SFP module to accommodate specific customer applications. Custom MADI I/O configuration is available when the unit is ordered.

Audio Streaming

The integrated routing matrix in MONTONE.42 supports up to 32 streams with an individual number of audio channels from the MADI inputs. Subscribe to a further 32 streams and convert the incoming audio channels to MADI.

Local and Remote Control

Basic settings are also adjustable via a local interface on the front panel, while an integrated web server provides remote access to the network interface to configure streams, audio routing and all device settings via a web browser.

Safe operation

MONTONE.42’s MADI inputs can be configured as redundant inputs with automatic fail-over switching. Two phase-redundant power supplies with separate IEC inlets and AC power switches on the rear panel ensure the highest possible operational reliability.
